Malam Jabba is a hill station in the Hindu Kush mountain range about 40 kilometers from Saidu Sharif in the Swat Valley, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is 314 kilometers from Islamabad and is located at an altitude of 7,000 feet [8,800 m]. It had been originally a skiing resort created by Pakistan Tourism and Development Corporation but was demolished some years ago. However, it is still a ski resort, and there are many other hotels in the area where one can stay.

In 2014, Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) signed a MoU agreement with Samson Group of Companies to establish a resort. There are rollers and ice skating rinks in the mountains of Malam Jabba. So if a person does not want to ski, they can always be busy with other activities. There are two Trekking trails located and is the finest ski resort in the country.

Every year a three day event, the winter festival is organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Foundation. It features a wide range of winter sports. These include skiing, speed skating, ice hockey, sledding, tobogganing, archery, curling, snow-tubing, music show, food, display of handicrafts and others.

There are two trekking trails at that offer scenic views . The first passes through the Ghorband Valley and Shangla Top and begins about 18 miles [18 km] from where the resort was. The other route passes through the Sabonev Valley and is ten miles [17 km] from where the resort was.

Malam jabba is home to Pakistan’s most beautiful ski resort, the Malam Jabba Ski Resort. Currently owned by Samsonons Group, the recreation area covers an area of 270 hectares and has an 800-meter slope with a maximum slope of 2804 m (9200 ft) above sea level. The resort faced its own challenges when it was destroyed by anti-government protesters during the Swat military coup. But now that things have been sorted out and Swat is free and safe again, the place of restoration has been restored to its former glory.

Rich archaeological History

Swat Valley is rich in archaeological sites, and significant relics from prehistoric civilizations that once ruled these lands. Some of them can also be found in Malam Jabba. The resort has six Buddhist stupas and six monasteries located in the mighty 2000-year-old state.
